E Coli

The doctors have isolated the type of bacterial infection to Escherichia Coli (E Coli).

They suspect that the bacterial infection occurred during the abdominal tap on Monday, but this is yet to be confirmed as the source of the infection.

Contrary to popular opinion about food or water-bourne E Coli illnesses, the doctor said that in our bodies we have E Coli normally and there are many strains of E Coli. We still know little about this particular type of strain. This morning they took a sample of the ascites fluids in her abdominal cavity in order to identify the strain.

The doctor who stopped by earlier this morning did say that she seems to have bounced back from the initial symptoms (sudden onset fever, chills) and that she is responding to the antibiotics but that she will need to remain under observation for at least a few more days.
