I have not posted here in a long time. It was hard for me to share what has been happening over the past two and a half months. Dying is part of life and we all do our best to accept and grieve in our own way.
Yesterday, Ma passed away. She was at home, in her own bed. She left us at about 2:10 p.m. She was in very bad pain at the end. Rest now in peace, Ma.
I may write more about what happened over the past few months, but for now, on behalf of the family, I want to thank everyone for following this journey with us, especially during the most difficult times.
Finally, I wanted to leave you with a very recent picture. You see, every time I visited we had a "tradition" where I would take a picture of Ma in her recliner chair and always with Gabbie. This picture was taken on Sunday, September 6 - seven days before she passed on. And it was the last day that I was able to see her.
I have learned over the past day or so that there is no way to prepare yourself for a mother's death, even though you know it is coming. We are doing the best we can to carry out the arrangements according to her wishes. Jacobson Funeral Home is helping us. You can visit their web site here to read her obituary and get some of the details on the services.
