I just learned that the combination of the anti-cancer treatment regimen of Taxol and Carboplatin is called "TaxolCarbo." In addition to using this combination to treat ovarian cancer, doctors also use it to treat some lung cancers.
Each person's reaction to TaxolCarbo is different. Some people have very few side effects, while others may experience more. I will list some of the more common side effects later, but one that has been really bothering her the last several weeks has been numbness and tingling in her hands. She mentioned today it's started in her feet now too.
The numbness and tingling is due to the effect of the Taxol and Carboplatin on her nervous system and is known as peripheral neuropathy. It is not a permanent condition and usually improves slowly a few months after treatment is over.
